Once you have reached this stage you can select your fabrics with a rough estimate of how much you will need.

Some fabrics only have a very small amount. 

I suggest you use good quality fabrics with a high thread count. Even though all the fabrics will be fused, they will have raw edges and poor quality fabrics will still tend to fray a little.

Hand dyed fabrics and batiks are a good option for this technique. I prefer to use solid colours or a small scale design as some of the pieces can be very small and a large scale design could be distracting.
